Your travel bag says a lot about you…
and about how you’re going to spend your journey. Sadly it’s always up to you (maybe sometimes your S/O) to decide if it’s going to be a stressful or relaxing trip.
I used to get overwhelmed just thinking about packing and wasting all that precious time. My focus was on the next business meeting and the one after that. I’m quite sure you can relate.Â
But here’s the truth: You can accomplish so much more in much less time! I’m here to tell you how. Below, you’ll find the routine that anyone can use even when they’re short on time, to keep their packing as organized as their business life is: Fast!
Where to start?
- Check the forecast
- Make a list
- Consider the activities you plan to do while keeping in mind the duration of your stayÂ
So here are the tips to pack like a pro.
Tip 1: Choose the Right Travel Bag
This should always be your top priority. Choosing the right travel bag depends on what you are planning on bringing or on how you intend to pack your belongings. Always be considerate of the weather when choosing the material of your bag. If you are on a business trip, you can bring a duffle bag or a suitcase. For a casual vacation or hike, a backpack should do.Â
Tip 2: Pack the Must-Haves
Quite often, while travelling, less is more. Avoid forgetting the essentials by making a list a few days prior to your trip. This trick has saved me plenty of times, and of time. I just write it on my phone and each time I remember something I will need, I can easily write it down. Not to mention that for future trips you can always check your previous lists. Outfit planning is also crucial, just remember to pack the clothes you will actually wear, not the ones that never seem to match any event.Â
Don’t forget to pack the toiletries, travel accessories, medicine or other daily items.Â
Tip 3: Lay Down Everything for a Start
Now that everything is listed, you are ready to start packing. Lay down in front of you all of the things that you’ve decided on bringing along on your trip. Organize them by categories. This trick won’t just make packing faster but it will also make remembering and accessing easier.Â
Tip 4: Rolling or Folding?
…that is the question and also one of the big debates. To make a choice you have to choose between saving space or wrinkle-free clothes.Â
While rolling compresses your clothing and makes it easier to stack and pack into your pack or suitcase, folding reduces the amount of wrinkling attained. Keep in mind the fabric of the clothing.Â
Tip 5: Buy Travel-Sized Cosmetics Containers
For travel security reasons, you may not bring full-sized bottles of shampoo, perfume or any other liquid and gel-based substances in your carry-on. These substances must be in 3.4-ounce (100-milliliter) bottles or smaller, all stored within a single clear, quart-size plastic bag. Depending on your time of stay, travel-sized containers should be a good option.Â
Keeping these 5 tips in mind, your packing anxiety will dissipate and you can actually enjoy your stress-free trip!
